Judge George R Corsiglia was admitted to the Bar in 1960, having earned his B.A. from University of Michigan and his LL.B. degree from Michigan State University Law School. He was appointed to the District Court bench in 1972 by Governor Milliken to fill a vacancy. He won reelection to the District Court in 74, but moved to the newly formed 48th Circuit Court upon the Governor’s request in 1975.
He continued in that office until his retirement on 3 January 2011 (39 years total). A second bench in the 48th Circuit Court was created in 1990, at which time Corsiglia’s title changed from Judge to “Chief Judge” (the junior position being filled by transfer of Judge Harry A Beach from District Court to Circuit).
